Photographer Mario Sorrenti’s The Machine is a quiet, powerful book that addresses his late brother Davide’s fatal illness. Davide Sorrenti, himself a prominent photographer, died at the age of 23 of a drug overdose. Davide also had a life long terminal blood disease that required being connected to an infusion pump (the machine) every night. The warmly lit, intimate sequence of photographs documents his nightly medication ritual one Thanksgiving when he was sixteen. It is followed by a written tribute by his brother. A very good copy in blue cloth without dust jacket as issued.
