The fourth in a series of publications presented in the format of a full-colour broadsheet newspaper, offering a review of the artist’s work over the past year.
London: Self-published, 2025.
Jack Davison was raised in rural Essex, England and currently lives in London. He studied English Literature at the University of Warwick, but spent most of his time there mucking about with cameras. Since the age of 15, he has continuously photographed those around him, much to the annoyance of family, friends and strangers. In the process, Davison has developed a distinctive style of his own - almost painterly in quality, and with a deep current of surrealism running through it. With deft use of light and shadow, his images are rich in tension and drama, paying tribute to vernacular photography as much as to the work of early modernist image-makers. A single photograph of Davison’s can obscure and reveal something of its subject at the same time.
Davison contributes to publications such as The New York Times, British Vogue and Double Magazine. His book Photographs was published in 2019. His commercial clients include COS, Hermes, Margaret Howell, Marni and The Row.
