Published in an edition of 500 numbered copies, Rodin is, like Birds (Lohr's first book), a study in abstraction, detail, gesture and the body, cropped.. Invited by the Mus̩ee Rodin in Paris to photograph the sculptures there on the centenary of Rodin's death, Lohr's perceptual approach is particularly haptic... Instead of showing us the works in their entirety, he presents fragments of them so that we're able to see the traces of sculptural processes on their surfaces, as well as the beauty of their expressive gestures.
With art direction and design by Daniel Baer, published 2017. Rodin launched at Claire de Rouen in Soho, London, on Thursday 20 April 2017. Read AnOther magazine's interview with Thomas here.
