Ian Macdonald, Choose Life (2017) limited edition print

On the streets of Middlesbrough in the mid 80's a young boy locks eyes with Ian Macdonald's 4X5 camera in front of religious - and countering anti-religious - graffiti.

Since 1968, Ian has photographed consistently across north east England. His work has been exhibited widely in the UK, with selected prints held in many public and private art collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Danish Royal Library, The Navigation Foundation, Boston, MA, USA, and Southampton City Art Gallery.

A very limited edition of 10 prints of this image (photographed in 1983) were made by Ian in his darkroom in 2017, especially for Claire de Rouen. Choose Life was commissioned by Claire de Rouen to celebrate Here We Are, an exhibition of British photography curated by Claire de Rouen Director Lucy Kumara Moore with Christopher Bailey and Alasdair McLellan, to celebrate Burberry's September 2017 collections.

The edition is signed, titled and numbered. The prints are silver gelatin, on 12 x 9.5 inch fibre based paper, hand printed by Ian Macdonald.
