Brian Griffin, Copyright 1978
Copyright 1978 is the first book by cult British photographer Brian Griffin, self-published to little fanfare in 1978. Almost 40 years later and it's one of the most important British photo books of the late 20th century. In Copyright 1978, Griffin depicts men in power at the dawn of Thatcherism. Inspired by Renaissance religious painting and German expressionist cinema, they articulate the emotions of power in a totally unique visual language.
Copyright 1978 contains drawings signifying each photograph, made by Griffin's friend and collaborator, the designer Barney Bubbles.
