"Real Life brings together ten spoken performance works (2018-2021) by Amelia Barratt, published here for the first time in print and audio. Written to be heard, this collection reflects the integral relationship between sound and text in Barratt's work. The artist's readings, which were mastered at Abbey Road Studios, are sampled inside on flexi disc and via a dedicated online site. This book includes newly commissioned essays by Isobel Harbison and Holly Pester, with a forward by Alvaro Barrington."
Amelia Barratt is an artist based in Glasgow working across text, audio, performance and painting. Live performance works have recently been shown at CCA Glasgow; Glasgow International; Seventeen, London; Live Art Development Agency, London; Royal Academy Schools, London; Museum of London and on Resonance FM.
