The latest publication by London-based photographer Jermaine Francis, Rhythms From the Metroplex is a visual essay, a short study on the multiplicity of, and agonistic exchange between, rhythms in the city. A journey through space and time, the book records moments—encountered in the streets of New York and London before the Covid-19 outbreak—that point to competing and unfixed narratives, to the complexity, messiness and transitory character of life in urban spaces.
