On the streets of Middlesbrough in the mid 80's a young boy locks eyes with Ian Macdonald's 4X5 camera in front of religious - and countering anti-religious - graffiti.
A very limited edition of 10 copies of this print (photographed in 1983) have been made by Ian in his darkroom this Summer, especially for Claire de Rouen. The edition is signed and numbered, and the prints are silver gelatin.
Since 1968, Ian has photographed consistently across north east England. His work has been exhibited widely in the UK, with selected prints held in many public and private art collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Danish Royal Library, The Navigation Foundation, Boston, MA, USA, and Southampton City Art Gallery.
Choose Life has been especially commissioned by Claire de Rouen to celebrate Here We Are, a new exhibition of British photography curated by Claire de Rouen Director Lucy Kumara Moore with Christopher Bailey and Alasdair McLellan. Here We Are was at Old Sessions House in London, EC1, Sep 18 - Oct 1, and was created to celebrate Burberry's September 2017 collections.
