Renato D'Agostin, Proxemics

D'Agostin (b. 1983) is an Italian photographer based in New York who makes black and white photographs, mainly in - and of - cities: Tokyo, Shanghai, Los Angeles and his native Venice have all acted as D'Agostin's muse. Having assisted Ralph Gibson, and learned much about printing from him, D'Agostin's images are pared down and classical, and yet phantasmagoric.

In Proxemics, suggests The (M) Editions, D'Agostin stretches the horizon between real and unreal.. enigmatic, timeless figures chase each other in a visual carousel. With film-noir aesthetics, he re-enchants the everyday..
