One of many brilliant magazines to have come out of New York of late, Even is a rigorous art magazine that isn't dryly academic but compelling and direct. Editor Jason Farago writes: 'our serious, at times irreverent writing bridges the misunderstood gap between culture and the world'.
Issue 5 features interviews with Jenny Holzer and Asli Cavusoglu, a text on digital photography and painting by Andrianna Campbell, a portfolio by artist Roman Stetina, and a review of shows by Danny Lyon and Diane Arbus in New York in relation to public rights and personal freedoms in the 1960s. Contributors include Ben Eastham (Co-Editor of The White Review), Laura McLean-Ferris and Max Nelson of the New York Review of Books.
